What is Anarchadia Publishing?

Any resemblance to St Piran's Cross is purely intentional. The noteworthy thing about this cross, which stands in dunes above Perranporth, is that the arms of the Celtic wheeled cross have rotated. The arms have become spokes and the cross is more than a wheel than ever.
Anarchadia Publishing is an independent small publisher that’s publishing the first part of the Soul Trader trilogy, entitled The Horsepower Whisperer. Between each part of the Soul Trader trilogy, stand alone stories featuring some of the characters from The Horsepower Whisperer will also be published. The first of these, The Wormton Lamb, is currently in the editorial process and will follow soon after the launch of The Horsepower Whisperer. All these stories are set in and around Anarchadia, an anarchic arcadia and temperate archipelago somewhere off the north west cost of Yerp.

There's an element of self parody to some of my work but the books are real enough
Books from Anarchadia will be available in paperback form as well as downloadable e-books. The Anarchadia website (www.anarchadia.co.uk) is integral to the marketing plan and will offer extra features, additional information on events and launch dates and links of interest to readers.

Anarchadia Publishing has been set up by me, Bob Blackman, to get my books to their readership. The biggest challenge is not so much writing the stories but in marketing and distributing them.
The current publishing industry is dominated by a handful of major companies but I am constantly reminded of how the punk rock explosion showed that within the music industry there was room for a different sound, a different approach and a different culture. I embrace the positive, do-it-yourself attitude of those times. In fact, I have given it a big hug, taken it home with me and nurtured it so that it can enjoy a long and happy life. It’s a good thing I did, too. With the technology available today, it’s got an even brighter future ahead of it.

I'm developing a different coloured go-faster stripe for each book
Anarchadia Publishing offers something different. My work can be broadly described as science fiction fantasy humour, but the science fiction is not too heavy and the fantasy does not feature many swords or sandals. My books are inspired by mechanised things with engines and wheels. They also draw upon Celtic mythology as well as the legends that grew up around the cars, motorbikes and personalities of more recent times. The end of this Golden Age is in sight for all manner of reasons and I want to capture these good times for posterity, before they go for ever.

To pigeonhole my writing I have come up with the description of engine punk.

This blog will – among other things such as frequent bursts of enthusiasm for what inspires me – mark the progress of my publishing adventure.
