The Amazon no cover image logo

I've had a lot of problems getting my cover image on Amazon. Use this link to click on the page for The Horsepower Whisperer and you will see that there still isn't one.

There used to be one but it was the original cover image that has now been superseded by a spruced up revision - except that it hasn't on Amazon. Currently, you can't see anything of my book on Amazon. I removed the original naively believing that it would be simple to get the new one on there. That was back in January.

I managed to upload the new image on there but the Amazon page insisted that it was a customer image uploaded by Mr R D Blackman. That last bit was true but I'm the bloody publisher. And I'm the bloody author. And the images were such pissy bloody little bloody things.

I never found out why they were viewed down the wrong end of a telescope. I removed them - once I'd managed to get my mouse to rest on them in their minuteness. I'd rather no image appeared at all than something looking so naff. Since then there's been that "No image available" logo, the one with that annoying smirk.

Meantime, there's been a good deal of e-mail correspondence as you can imagine. I was quite nice throughout the whole affair, patience and politeness personified. Everyone I contacted seemed to be different and so not to blame at all for any of the problems I'd had so far. They were as helpful as they could be in their own way - "Yes! We'd love you to upload your own customer images!" - but consistently misunderstood the point I was trying to make.

Events took a rather surreal turn when I was advised how I could download the image they had to use on my own website.

It's a good thing I'm not a swearing sort of person.

However, last week I got an e-mail that apologised for all the misunderstanding. I like to copy correspondence to date when dealing with multiple personalities. I also received an e-mail address. I won't give it out. I can only assume it's a secret and having got this far don't want to fall out with them. Whoever they are.

I should have looked more closely at this but I'd been getting nowhere for so long that I felt I would have to psyche myself up to a crescendo of irresistible determination to take the next step. Well I did that today and all I had to do was attach my front cover image to a message to this e-mail address and they will then do all the rest.

I'm not sure if it's an anti-climax yet but that smirking logo shouldn't be there much longer.

And I'm going to do the Search Inside The Book thing now that I'm in the mood.
