An obscure special tool
There's a plate on it but it's not much of a clue |
There's a tightening ratchet on the shaft on the right that pulls a shaped block up against two feet |
It's a special tool of some sort made by Churchill, serial number 18G227C.
Nobody knows what it fits but somebody somewhere is probably, at this very moment, crying out for this Vintage Thing. To throw it away would seem to be a crime so I took pity on it and it has now come to live with me at the Cornish Repository for Unwanted Vintage Things until it can be re-homed.
Never read such a load of *****!!! in all my life
ReplyDeleteGet back to work, Steve, and stop messing about.
ReplyDeleteOr I'll tell Tim.
I believe it's an old brake (or brake drum) puller, but I'm just a dumb blonde biker chick carpenter.
ReplyDeleteThat's the best guess anyone's come up with so far
ReplyDeleteBetter late than never, just seen this, it's actually Churchill 18G 227, listed as a Cylinder Liner Remover, suits various 1950's Austin & Morris Trucks, but especially BMC Nuffield Tractors...Quite sought after as such, they make VERY good money on ebay etc.

Thank you so much! My neighbour has various agricultural Vintage Things including Nuffield trcators so this could come in very handy
